Renovation & Kumbabhishekam
Appeal for Donations
The year 1992 was a landmark year in the glorious history of Palamadai, the village being home to Mahakavi Sri Neelakanta Dikshithar and graced and protected by the guardian deity Mangaleswari Devi. This was the year in which Sri Sringeri Sankara Math, housing an Adi Sankara temple, was installed. With the blessings and guidance of Sringeri Jagadgurus Sri Abhinava Vidya Theertha Mahaswamigal and Sri Bharathi Theertha Maha Swamigal, the citizens of Palamadai have grown both materially and spiritually and are ardent devotees of Sri Sringeri Sarada Peetham.
Over the years, Sri Sankara idol and the surrounding area in the sannidhi of the Math have become dull and stained and require appropriate treatment and re-consecration. Sri Maha Sannidhanam of Sringeri, when consulted, directed that a Kumbabhiskam be performed following remedial measures as it has been
23 years since the temple was installed.
In preparation for this function, we would like to complete all repairs and renovation work which includes a long standing improvement project. This involves refashioning the backside of the Math to improve the kitchen facilities and relocate the toilets. The Math has been serving as the venue for Annadhanam
for all Palamadai functions and festivals.
The total cost covering the renovation of the Math, consecration of the temple and celebrations of Kumbabhishekam is estimated to be about Rs. Eight Lakhs.
With your support, we would like to mobilize the necessary financial resources over the next few weeks so that the renovation work can be funded and completed in good time and we are ready for Kumbabhishekam by the month of Thai (mid January 2016). The Kumbabhishekam date will be announced in due course.
As Asthikas associated with Palamadai and Sringeri, you have been supportive and generous in your financial aid in the past and we are sure that you will respond enthusiastically to this appeal.
Various methods of making payments are given as an annexure to this note. We look forward to your support.
